Of course I respect everyone else’s opinion so like Fleetwood Mac said “go your own way” when it comes to liking what you like. I still have a soft spot for the dubs since I got into them first before exploring the original cuts but overall I feel the subbed shows are presented much better. There are also some jokes in the dub that dont age well. The dub really strips away most of the tone and character complexity, and censors a lot of the action scenes. For these reasons uncensored versions and no goofy humor I feel the subs prevail all the time. Digimon Tamers without Impmon-evolving-to-Beelzebumon-while-EVO-playing-on-the-background is not Digimon Tamers. Even simple lines were changed as I believe Guilmon’s interest in peanut butter was not in the original. When Growlmon first digivolves, a few scenes of his fireballs actually hitting the building during the fight were cut out since this episode was premiering around the same time as 9/11 so seeing tall buildings on fire the crew thought would be inappropriate. They even airbrushed his arm out of a shot to simply match with the background instead. In the same episode they cut certain shots where Gargomon is aiming his arm directly at Rika, instead opting to make it seem he’s just looking at her. Here’s a few examples I’ve seen personally: When Renamon is fighting Gargomon in the parking garage, a shot of her scratching his eyes was removed in the dub. Such instances in Tamers where things were changed are no exception. The subs will always contain maturer material than their dubbed counterparts.
